Andrew Oswald of the University of Warwick in England and Stephen Wu, an economist at Hamilton College in New York, created a study to determine which states are the happiest. This study combined personal reports and statistics based on air quality, population density, home prices, etc.

In a recent article, Matthew J. Kotchen of Yale University noted research that may prove that green building is a prosperous area of commercial real estate. Supporting points include:
A. Green buildings usually have higher rent and sale prices.
B. Willingness to pay more seems to be linked to lower utility bills generated by green buildings.
C. The premium indoor quality of green buildings increases work productivity.
D. Locating a company in a green building is beneficial for the company’s image.

Located between Front and Third Street is a dilapidated housing development called Nesbitt Courts. It has been vacant since 2007, residents forced to find housing elsewhere due to the poor condition of the buildings. Due to a lack of funding and the location of the development near some fuel tanks, redevelopment of the buildings has been postponed. However, it was reported this week that the Caper Corporation is very interested in taking on the project. They have proposed a new development called Compton Court that will includes colorful townhouses. You can see a picture of the proposed rehabilitation and read more about the project here.
Dealings are not yet finalized, but such a project would be a welcoming sight for residents of the area and could create funding for other low-income housing.
